Good morning Carl, it always surprises me the subjects that are chosen by sketchers, most of which I probably wouldn’t even consider, but then that is what sketching is about isn’t it? Not trying to be precise like me… I am going to give it more of a go, a bit busy at the moment with our son over from the UK, but in September I am going to be laid up for a few weeks which will be a good reason to sketch. I am enjoying seeing what you are up to, like you I have never owned a cat, not that I don’t like them, but I know if I did consider it the cat would just go and sit on my husbands lap, and he is not particularly keen on them. Go figure! Don’t worry about things not working, I’m like that with my lighthouses, particularly when I did the Tybee Island Lighthouse, 90% of the angles were wrong. Funnily enough my girlfriend didn’t notice but it was the first thing her husband saw when she showed it to him.

Animals are like that with my wife, she gives them the cold shoulder and they love it!!

I don't sweat the small stuff it's only a drawing after all. Interestingly I'm thinking of going bigger and bolder having seen some videos in some substacks recently but i need space,.. well and money and probably permission from the boss 🤣

I think sketching can be about whatever you want. I met an artist on our travels just yesterday when we went for a sea swim. He was on holiday and was sketching away on a shingle beach watching his family in the water. When we talked he uses them as preparation for larger pieces in oil or acrylic.

Thanks, Carl! I may have been going overboard a bit with the cats this week! I may have...
